From August 8 to 10, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted nearly 100 outstanding university students from up to 70 universities across China in a blended, online-offline, summer camp.

Wei ZHENG, one of the Summa Cum Laude graduate students, said that SUSTech provided excellent scientific research conditions, and her mentor encouraged her in a wide range of areas. “The persistence of my mentor and their love for scientific research inspired me.”

On the evening of July 5, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held a socially-distanced 2020 Commencement Ceremony on the grounds of Green Pine Capital Stadium. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO, President Shiyi CHEN, Former University Council Chairperson Ming LI, Honored Guest Green Pine Capital Partners founder Wei LI and other honored guests watched over proceedings.

The recent achievements in ionic thermoelectric materials by Associate Professor Weishu LIU, in conjunction with Professor Gang CHEN at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), reflects three years of hard work by Weishu LIU in materials science and scientific research. His painstaking efforts have created new knowledge and technological wisdom through their cultivation of scientific knowledge.

On May 27, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the launched meeting of the “Research and Development and Industrialization of Solid-State Power Battery Systems” Project (Key-Area Research and Development Program of Guangdong Province). On March 10, a delegation led by Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee Secretary Wang Weizhong and Mayor Chen Rugui visited Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

SUSTech has donated six hundred thousand anti-fog wipes in one thousand containers and twenty thousand spray bottles of anti-fog wipes. The anti-fog disinfectant wipes and spray are the results of research by Associate Professor Sun Dazhi from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE).
