Over the weekend, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Associate Professor Li Guixin from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) was honored with one of the 2019 Outstanding Young Scholars Awards from the Qiu Shi Science and Technologies Foundation.

On the eve of National Teachers’Day, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held its annual Teachers’Day Award Ceremony that rewarded a wide range of teaching, research and administrative positions around campus. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, SUSTech President Chen Shiyi, Runyang Group Chairman Yang Jun and Runyang Group Chief Financial Officer Liu Feiming were among the luminaries in attendance. SUSTech Vice President Lu Chun presided over the ceremony.

Last month, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed Professor Suo Zhigang to campus. He gave an intriguing lecture on “Hydrogel Adhesion: A Synergy of Mechanics, Chemistry and Topology.”

Thousands packed Runyang Stadium at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) for the 2019 Commencement Ceremony. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, President Chen Shiyi, Honored Guest and Chairman of EVOC Intelligent Technology Chen Zhilie watched over the proceedings. They were all here to acknowledge the efforts of the 2019 graduates and their tutors, who were joined by their parents and current students.

Between June 14 and 16, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Jinan University worked together to hold the 3rd National Symposium on Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells (Symposium). The Symposium is sponsored by the Chinese Chemical Engineering Society, and saw nearly 400 experts and scholars from more than 70 universities and scientific research institutions across mainland China come to Shenzhen. Professor Xu Baomin from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at SUSTech was the chair of the organizing committee of the Symposium, and hosted the opening ceremony.

Last week, two scientists from Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) were recognized as Global Highly Cited Researchers in 2018, in a ceremony held at Shenzhen University.

The first metallographic competition of the Department of Material Science and Engineering was successfully accomplished in Conference Room 408 of the Second Scientific Research Building on April 21, 2019.
