The recent achievements in ionic thermoelectric materials by Associate Professor Weishu LIU, in conjunction with Professor Gang CHEN at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), reflects three years of hard work by Weishu LIU in materials science and scientific research. His painstaking efforts have created new knowledge and technological wisdom through their cultivation of scientific knowledge.

On May 27, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the launched meeting of the “Research and Development and Industrialization of Solid-State Power Battery Systems” Project (Key-Area Research and Development Program of Guangdong Province). It is a major provincial project for new energy vehicles, and the launch meeting was attended by many key figures from government, universities, companies, and SUSTech.

On March 10, a delegation led by Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee Secretary Wang Weizhong and Mayor Chen Rugui visited Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

SUSTech has donated six hundred thousand anti-fog wipes in one thousand containers and twenty thousand spray bottles of anti-fog wipes. The anti-fog disinfectant wipes and spray are the results of research by Associate Professor Sun Dazhi from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE).

Associate Professor Sun Dazhi from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) led his research group to develop an anti-fog disinfectant wipe suitable for goggles rapidly. These simple wet wipes ensure that the goggle lens remains fog-free for at least twenty-four hours while being non-toxic to the human eyes and effective at killing bacteria. These wipes ensure clean equipment throughout the entire day and make it easier for our health care workers in the battle against Covid-19.

On December 3, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed Sun Licheng, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), to campus. He gave the 246th lecture in the SUSTech Lecture Series on the topic of “Solar Energy Conversion and Water Splitting Catalysis: From Natural to Artificial Photosynthesis.”

Over the weekend, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was the host venue for the first meeting of the Undergraduate Teaching Steering Committee of Materials Science for the universities in Guangdong. SUSTech Acting Vice President Zhang Dongxiao attended the meeting with 19 members from universities and businesses across Guangdong Province.
