On November 10, the 2015 Press Conference for Shenzhen's Talent Program for Introduction of Overseas High-level Talent Teams was held. This year Shenzhen introduced 18 peacock teams, covering fields such as biology and new pharmaceuticals, life health, software and network communication, microelectronics, new energy, new materials and advanced manufacturing. So far Shenzhen has introduced 61 peacock teams. The teams of South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTC) led by Xu Baomin, Zhang Xumu and Zhang Xinhai were accredited as "peacock teams", accounting for one sixth of this round of funded teams.

Prof. Xu Baomin's "New Perovskite Solar Cell R & D Team" was among the first group of funded teams; Prof. Zhang Xumu's "Team for Green Synthesis of Major Drugs" and Prof. Zhang Xinhai's "Ultra Wide Spectrum Super Strong THz Wave R & D Team" were among the second group of funded teams. The accreditation of the three teams marks the improvement in the comprehensive strength of SUSTC's disciplinary teams.

The 18 peacock teams were selected through project acceptance, expert argumentation, government decision and publicity, in accordance with relevant regulations such as the Opinions of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government on Implementing the "Peacock Program" for Introduction of Overseas High-level Talents and the Trial Measures for Review of Overseas High-level Talent Teams Introduced by Shenzhen.
